All Are Welcome Faith Communities
LGBTQ+ Affirming Faith Communities
Faith communities have self-identified in one of the two categories:
Hospitable: Our community is somewhere on the journey to full LGBTQ+ inclusion. (1) The leader(s) of our faith community is/are openly affirming and (2) we are introducing discussions and providing information (for example, through prayers, sermons, events, promotion of Interfaith Action relevent material, bulletins, etc.) that we hope will lead to full LGBTQ+ inclusion and welcome
Formally Affirming: Our community has an official, written policy statement on inclusion which lists sexual orientation and gender identity as part of its array of diverse populations that are welcomed and fully included
Inclusive Policy and Practice Congregation: In addition to being formally affirming, completed all inclusive policy and practice action steps provided by Interfaith Action. You can find that list here.
Anti-Racist Faith Communities
The ‘All Are Welcome: Action Steps for Becoming an Anti-Racist Faith Community’ resource outlines actions that faith communities can take to become anti-racist. These actions include examining the faith tradition's intersection with race, incorporating anti-racist messaging into communications and worship, and advocating for policies and practices that advance racial justice. The document also suggests recognizing significant seasons of the year that oppose racism, displaying explicit statements of welcome, and partnering with or supporting local organizations working towards racial equity. Anti-Racist Faith Communities have completed action steps as outlined in this document.
